This document, published on 14 December 2010, is an Edited Recommendation of the W3C.
This second edition is not a new version of this specification; its purpose is to clarify a number of issues that have become apparent since the first edition was published.
All of these clarifications (excepting trivial editorial fixes) have been published in a separate errata document, and published in a Proposed Edited Recommendation in April, 2009. This document has been jointly developed by the W3C XML Query Working Group and the W3C XSL Working Group, each of which is part of the XML Activity.
This document has been reviewed by W3C Members, by software developers, and by other W3C groups and interested parties, and is endorsed by the Director as a W3C Recommendation.
Please refer to the errata for this document, which may include some normative corrections. This document is also available in these non-normative formats: XML and Change markings relative to first edition.
